About Lethbridge Massage Therapy

I am Carla Haney, the therapist behind Lethbridge Massage Therapy. My journey in the health care industry began almost 10 years ago, when I started my career as a registered nurse at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. After a couple of years as a staff nurse on an acute medical/cardiac ward, a move took my family and I to Calgary where I gained immense experience as an Intensive Care nurse at the Peter Lougheed and Foothills hospitals over a period of 5 years. The last couple of years I worked in an oral surgery clinic in Calgary. The slower pace as well as fewer hours allowed me some free time to develop a yoga practice, spend more time with my family, and pursue my education in massage therapy. In June 2007 I obtained and 1100 hour certificate in Relaxation Massage from MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy, and completed a 2200 hour diploma in June of 2008 in remedial/therapeutic massage, also through MH Vicars School. My family and I moved back to Lethbridge in August of 2007 in order to be closer to family and enjoy the slower pace and charm we always appreciated about this city.

My interest in massage therapy began several years ago when a workplace back injury forced me to seek massage therapy as a means of relief. In conjunction with my other treatments and therapies, massage therapy was a huge benefit, not only physically as it helped decrease the pain and spasm associated with the injury, but also left me with a greater sense of well-being, feeling more relaxed, balanced, recharged. I wanted to bring the benefits I experienced in my treatments to others. In addition to my new career in massage therapy, I continue to work as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital.

I hold registration as a Registered Nurse with the College and Association of Registered Nurses in Alberta. I am also registered as a massage therapist with the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta.
