A Great Way to Stress Less
Today, in our fast-moving ever-changing world, we commonly find ourselves operating in the fight or flight mode - STRESS. When
you are stressed - tense, angry or frightened, you hold your breath.
Your body, deprived of oxygen, panics; every muscle reacts; your blood
pressure soars and you lose the ability to think clearly. If, at that
moment, you stop and take a deep breath, your energies realign and
center you in your Self. A deep breath will clear your mind and
allow you to focus on the present moment, giving you the space you need
for instinct and intuition to step to the fore of your mind and animate
your heart. Breath promotes feelings of expansiveness and the power to
direct your life. Most importantly, breath aerates your body, your
entire Being, promoting health and happiness, connecting your Life
Force, or "Chi" to the Universe. When you breathe with attention, you
enter into the Universal flow. Breath is a gift. It is life
force. Love soars on the wings of breath. With each breath you take,
you are inhaling particles of light, of energy; you are partaking of
the Universe. Breath is magical; a deep breath fills of every
cell in your body with oxygen and light, heals you, brings you back
into the present moment, and empowers you with the ability to confront
any challenge and say, "I can do this. I Am Enough!" Yet, because we
breathe unconsciously, without thought, we take it for granted. When
you feel overwhelmed and stressing, create a space for yourself where
you can be comfortable and quiet. Sit in a chair with your legs
uncrossed, or on the floor in the lotus or half lotus position; put
your hands on your knees, palms up and take a deep breath. Lovingly put
your attention on your breath. Clear your mind and focus only on your
breath. Center yourself in your heart, breathe slowly and deeply; feel
at one with the Universe. Identify
and release any tension, any feelings of anger or fear; exhale and
gently let them go â€" they are not You; you no longer need them. Open
your mind and Heart to the Universal Energy that dances around and
through you. Feel each breath fill your body from your toes, deep
into your belly, up your torso, into your lungs; feel it open your
heart and your throat, shoot into your sinuses, straight up to your
third eye (between your brows), and to the top of your head. Feel your
lungs inflate like balloons. Relax. As you focus loving attention on
your breath, begin to feel centered and serene. Allow the corners of
your mouth curve into a half smile. Now, pull energy up through
your feet and legs into your lower torso. Feel the energy coursing
through you; bring it up your spine and over the top of your head; feel
it spiraling through your body. Be aware of every inhalation, every
exhalation. Still your body; quiet the incessant chatter of your mind
by focusing totally on your breath; allow each breath to center you
solidly in the present moment. Relax the muscles in your face and jaw;
relax your eyes and turn inward. Focus your attention on the
silence within; look into your heart. Let the energy you breathe in to
permeate every fiber of your being; fill each cell of your body with
Love and healing energy. If pain is present in any part of your
body, breathe into the pain and visualize it diffusing. Sit with the
pain for a few moments; talk to it; get to know it. Ask the pain what
it wants and needs from you. Exhale and release the pain; send it out
into the Universe to be transformed for your highest good and that of
the world. With every breath you take, be aware of the life force
coursing through you; feel the strength, vibrancy and brilliance of
that force flowing effortlessly into your mind, your body and your
heart. Inhale and imagine atomic and subatomic particles joyously
dancing through you, through the space around you; this is the energy
of the Divine Source, of the stars and the planets, the constellations
and galaxies; this is the energy of light, Love and healing. Become one
with this Divine Dance; lovingly, joyfully merge into it. Sit for
several minutes in the silence of the inner space you have just
created. Open your Heart to the Joy, the serenity that is knocking from
within and offer words of gratitude for who you are and what you have
at this moment. When you are ready, take a deep breath, open your
eyes and come back into the room. Carry the light and Love that you
feel into this moment and hold it close throughout the day, knowing you
are part of the flow of Divine Energy, that its Power is embodied in
You. You are Universal Energy. You Are Love. You Are Enough. No
matter how stressed, fatigued or frightened you are, the simple act of
lovingly focusing on your breath relaxes you, calms you. Breathe
deeply, inhaling not only oxygen, but the magical dancing particles
that are the fabric of the Universe - Love, unconditional and infinite. Clear
your mind and fill your heart with this Divine Love. Imagine every cell
in your body vibrating with these sparkling, magical, dancing particles
of Divine Energy, feeding your Spirit and making you whole. Feel a
sense of Inner Peace. Every conscious, purposeful breath you take lends
wings to self-awareness, to self-love, and ultimately, to compassion,
forgiveness and happiness for you and for every living creature. Such
